Paul is president and CEO of Global Wealth and Asset Management at Manulife. In this role, he has direct oversight over the firm’s wealth and asset management business, including retirement, retail, and asset management solutions offered worldwide. He’s accountable for creating stronger global alignment by bringing these areas together into one single global organization and is a member of Manulife’s executive leadership team.

Prior to his current role, Paul served as general manager of individual wealth management and insurance for the firm’s Canadian division, overseeing Manulife Investments, Manulife Securities, Manulife Private Wealth, and Manulife Insurance. In this role, he was responsible for delivering industry-leading advice and investment and insurance solutions to Canadians. He joined Manulife in 1993 and has held a variety of roles of increasing responsibility throughout the firm’s Canadian operations.

Paul earned a B. Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, and is a graduate of the Queen’s Leadership Program.

Andy is responsible for retail, retirement, and institutional asset management across all businesses and channels. He is head of Wealth and Asset Management in the United States and Europe, and president and CEO of John Hancock Investment Management. He brings a wealth of organizational and industry expertise to this role, including more than 25 years of experience in the asset management industry. Since 2012, Andy has led all aspects of John Hancock Investment Management’s business, from investments, sales, marketing, finance, and product development to operations and technology. In 2014, he was appointed president of the John Hancock funds, with general responsibility for overseeing day-to-day management of fund business and operations, serving as CEO of all funds, acting as liaison between management and the funds’ Board of Trustees, and presiding over trustee and shareholder meetings.

In addition, Andy’s a member of the Board of Directors of John Hancock Worldwide Investors, through which John Hancock offers UCITS funds to non-U.S. investors. In his prior position as executive vice president and COO of Investment Management Services, he was responsible for developing and managing the network of subadvisor asset management relationships across the John Hancock and Manulife platforms in the United States and Asia.

Andy began his John Hancock career in 1993 after earning a B.S. in Business Administration from Boston University; he also earned an M.S. in Finance from Northeastern University.

Karen is responsible for brand management and marketing strategy across all media and distribution across the firm’s Global Wealth and Asset Management business, and for providing alignment, accountability, and global coordination on strategies at the global and regional levels spanning retail, retirement, and institutional asset management.

Before joining John Hancock Investment Management in 2012, Karen was senior vice president, director of marketing, communications, and corporate affairs at Banco Santander in Boston, where she was responsible for all bank-wide marketing and communications, public relations, corporate affairs, and corporate social responsibility. During her 12-year tenure at Putnam Investments, Karen served as managing director of retail marketing, responsible for marketing and communication programs in support of retail product lines, open- and closed-end funds, 529 education savings plans, separately managed accounts, and retirement plans across multiple distribution channels. Additionally, Karen worked at Hill Holliday, a Boston advertising agency, as vice president management supervisor and as a key account sales manager for Kraft General Foods.

Karen earned a B.A. in Communications from Boston College and an M.B.A. from the Sloan School of Management at MIT.

Steve is responsible for developing and commercializing Manulife Investment Management’s private market assets for the benefit of the firm’s clients. The private markets platform offers long-term solutions for clients by leveraging the firm’s expertise across private equity, private credit, timberland, farmland, real estate, infrastructure, and private placement debt.

Steve joined Manulife in 1982 and was most recently head of Hancock Capital Management (HCM), where he was responsible for the team’s private equity and private credit investment programs. Prior to joining HCM, he spent 12 years as the team leader and a member of the industrial and consumer products team of John Hancock’s North American corporate finance group, and 6 years in John Hancock’s group pensions department.

Steve earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Chicago and an M.B.A. from the Boston University Graduate School of Management.

Joëlle is responsible for overseeing key risk exposures for the Global Wealth and Asset Management business; in addition, she’s charged with operational risk oversight for Manulife’s general account. Prior to joining the firm, Joëlle was the chief risk officer of PGIM, the investment management division of Prudential Financial. At PGIM, she implemented and maintained a risk management framework across all asset management businesses, including public fixed income, equity, real estate, mortgages, private debt, international investments, and PGIM’s mutual funds’ manufacturing and distribution platform.

Previously, Joëlle was the global head of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and operational risk at Lazard Frères, where she developed and implemented a global SOX program on the firm’s initial public offering, as well as an operational risk program across all business lines, including investment banking and asset management.

Additionally, Joëlle spent over 10 years in internal audit with Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse, where she was responsible for managing regional and global audits of various fixed-income, equity, and investment banking units, as well as support functions. She started her career with KPMG and worked in audit and consulting with the Paris, Philadelphia, and New York practices.

Joëlle earned a Master of Management with a concentration in finance (Oxford), a Diplom-Kaufmann in Betriebswirtschaftslehre (Berlin), and a Diplôme des grandes écoles de commerce from ESCP Europe (Paris), as well as a baccalaureate in mathematics and physics.

Chris is responsible for the development and execution of all long-term strategic, financial, and operating plans of the public market asset manager. He’s also responsible for all aspects of the firm’s public market investment processes and outcomes, including development and implementation of the firm’s investment philosophy, risk management, and investment performance of equity, fixed-income, and solutions-oriented strategies.

Chris is a member of Manulife’s Global Wealth and Asset Management leadership team and brings more than 30 years of investment management experience to his role. Before joining Manulife, he was chief investment officer (CIO) of Evergreen Investment Management Company, leading several distinct teams that managed fixed-income, equity, and liquid alternative strategies. Prior to his role as CIO at Manulife, Chris spent three years as Evergreen's equity CIO, following a merger between Keystone Investments and Evergreen. He spent 13 years at Keystone, where he held several portfolio management positions, culminating in the role of president and CIO.

Chris earned a B.A. in Economics from Clark University, an M.B.A. from Boston University, and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Lee Ann is responsible for the oversight and management of application services and information risk management across the Global Wealth and Asset Management business, which includes digital, platform services and support, application development, architecture and cloud, emerging technologies, and outsourcing activities. She also plays a leading role in the firm’s global optimization program, a multi-year, digital transformational initiative to design a global technology platform and operating model.

Prior to joining Manulife in 2017, Lee Ann was the CIO/managing director of investments, technology, and operations at MetLife. She previously held progressively senior positions over her tenures at J.P. Morgan/Bank One, RBC, and Bank of Butterfield.

Lee Ann earned an associate’s degree in business from Memorial University in Newfoundland.

John is responsible for overseeing the firm’s Global Wealth and Asset Management legal teams for Asia, Canada, the European Union, and the United States. Prior to joining Manulife/John Hancock in 2005, John served as chief counsel for the life insurance and asset management businesses at Allmerica Financial. Prior to that, he was managing director and general counsel for the asset management business at Freedom Securities, a holding company of broker-dealers and investment management firms.

Earlier in his career, John was associated with the law firms Goodwin Procter and Squire Patton Boggs; he also clerked for the chief judge of the U.S. Federal District Court in Ohio’s Northern District.

John earned an A.B. from Duke University and a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University.

Sue leads the retirement teams in each key market in Manulife Investment Management’s international network: Asia, the United States, and Canada. These teams focus on maintaining a strong local presence in each key market while identifying strategic opportunities that capitalize on existing expertise and emerging technology to maximize opportunities globally.

Prior to her current role, Sue was Manulife’s executive vice president and general manager of institutional markets in Canada, where she was accountable for group benefits, group retirement solutions, and the international group program. Earlier, she was the firm’s first senior vice president of consumer solutions, responsible for driving consumer engagement through multiple channels and delivering needs-based solutions to Canadian consumers. Sue joined Manulife in 1994 and has held progressively senior roles in the Canadian division’s finance, operations, and general management. 

Sue earned a B. Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, and holds the Chartered Professional Accountant designation.

Tim oversees all aspects of finance for the firm’s Global Wealth and Asset Management business, spanning retail, retirement, and institutional asset management, as well as Manulife’s insurance general account investment portfolio. As part of his responsibilities, he’s accountable for the design and implementation of a global financial strategy and operating model that enables a more customer-centric environment, bringing additional transparency and strategic insight to business leaders and providing a scalable foundation for further growth.

Tim joined Manulife in 2007 and his previous roles included senior vice president of enterprise risk management, with oversight of the firm's operational risk, economic capital, and integrated risk measurement models, as well as company-wide risk reporting. Prior to this, he held increasingly senior roles in global finance, including senior vice president and chief accountant.

Before joining Manulife, Tim was at PwC, based in Toronto and London, where he assisted large, global financial institutions with merger-and-acquisition transactions, cross-border security offerings, accounting advisory support, and large-scale transformation projects.

Tim earned a B.C. from Queen’s University, and is an Ontario Chartered Professional Accountant and a U.S. Certified Public Accountant.

Based in Hong Kong, Michael is a member of Manulife Investment Management’s executive committee, its Asia division executive committee, and its global management committee. He leads the wealth and asset management businesses in Asia to address the region’s large and growing wealth management market opportunity. In this capacity, Michael's responsibilities include setting the strategic direction for continued growth across the region’s retail and institutional markets. He’s also responsible for business development, regulatory and business risk management, client relationship management, and local operational efforts for the asset management franchise in Asia.

Prior to his current appointment, Michael was the firm’s president of international asset management and, prior to that, headed Manulife Financial's investment operations in Asia (ex-Hong Kong). Before relocating to Asia, Michael was based in Boston, where he led the firm’s institutional spread-based business product development efforts from 2001 to 2004. Prior to joining the company in 2001, he was based in New York, London, and Sydney as the head of various units of a global rating agency that covered leveraged finance and asset-backed securities.

Doug is responsible for supporting the Global Wealth and Asset Management business and general account investments. In his role, he provides overall HR leadership and strategic HR planning to these global operations. As a member of the leadership team, Doug ensures that the talent strategy aligns with the strategic plans for the business, and he partners with the Centers of Expertise and Shared Services within HR to design and deliver products, solutions, and services to managers and employees globally.

As a member of Manulife’s HR senior leadership team, Doug contributes to the overall strategy, programs, policies, and initiatives for the global HR function. He’s also a member of Manulife’s global leadership team and leads a global team of HR partners responsible for liaising with business leaders and the global HR function to attract, develop, and engage employees to execute the strategic plans of the business.

Reporting to Doug in North America are teams of HR partners based in Boston, Toronto, Montreal, and Waterloo, and across Asia in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan. Doug joined the investment division in 2004 as a senior HR consultant and was promoted to vice president in 2010, following a steady progression in responsibility; he joined the division from John Hancock, the retirement plan services team, U.S. division. Prior to that, Doug held a variety of roles in both HR and the insurance business across the corporate, Canadian, and U.S. divisions of Manulife.

Bernard brings more than 24 years of experience in the financial services industry to his role as head of wealth and asset management, Canada. Before joining the firm, he was managing director of Manulife Private Wealth and held leadership positions at BMO Private Banking, Standard Life, and Investors Group.

Bernard earned an L.L.B. and an L.L.M. in Law from the University of Montreal, is a member of the Quebec Bar, and is a published legal author. An active blogger on matters of leadership, corporate culture, and social responsibility, he’s a member of Manulife’s Global Diversity and Inclusion Committee and is the co-executive sponsor of one of Manulife’s largest Global Women’s Alliance chapters.

Gerry is head of general account operations, supporting the firm’s global wealth and asset management business and is responsible for managing global operations, including on-balance-sheet assets, public markets, affiliated wealth management clients, and the global retirement business. He leads the design, implementation, and management of the data governance and information management program.

Gerry has held several global leadership roles across several geographies throughout his 20-year career with Goldman Sachs (GS), including significant experience in Asia. Most recently, he was the firm’s global head of operations banking, investing and lending, where he was responsible for setting up a new operations business and managing the group, with teams located in New York, Dallas, London, Bengaluru, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. During his time at GS, he also managed multiple initiatives, including driving automation and digitization across several parts of the business. Prior to his current role, he served as Asia co-head of operations, managing Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Korea, China, Australia, India and Taiwan, leading a global team that supported all GS revenue-producing areas, plus strategic initiatives to build out GS’s footprint and capabilities across Asia.

Leo is responsible for global investment product across the firm’s Global Wealth and Asset Management business, spanning retail, retirement, and institutional asset management. He pursues this objective by combining the investment capabilities of affiliated and unaffiliated asset managers—all with a focus on offering the best solutions to meet investor needs. Leo oversees all investment product development, asset manager selection, and ongoing investment oversight of global performance and risk across a wide range of investment vehicles.

Before taking on the head of investments role in 2012, Leo had been head of product development for risk oversight and operations for John Hancock Investment Management. He joined the company in 1997 and has held diverse roles of steadily increasing responsibility within the organization.

Leo earned a B.A. in Political Science and Economics from Colgate University, an M.B.A. from Boston University, and holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst designation.

Bill is responsible for the overall management of Hancock Natural Resources Group (HNRG) and works closely with the executive team in carrying out those responsibilities. In August 2015, he was elected an HNRG board director. Prior to becoming CEO, Bill was the president and CFO of HNRG, a role in which he was responsible for the financial management of the firm, its subsidiaries and investment entities, the accounting and reporting of client investments, information systems, human resources, and administration.

Bill joined HNRG in 2011 and has been involved in all of its major strategic growth initiatives, such as the acquisition of Farmland Management Services and the formation of Hancock Farmland Services. Prior to joining HNRG, he held senior management positions at Stimson Lumber, a privately held, integrated forest products company, and at PacifiCorp, an energy and telecommunications company.

Bill earned a B.S. in Business from the University of Illinois-Champaign and an M.B.A. from DePaul University.
